The appUP curriculum is designed to target all aspects of the high school to college transition,
from finding the best fit schools to financial aid. To this end, our program runs from the spring of 11th
grade to winter of 12th grade, when college application materials are submitted.
Since every student is unique,
one-on-one mentorship represents a central pillar of our curriculum. Our University of Chicago student mentors
work closely with high school students over the course of the progam, getting to know each student and providing
personalized advice and guidance. To complement one-on-one mentorship, appUP hosts group workshops on topics like
financial aid, application essays, how to find a good college fit, and much more. Through this unique combination
of personal mentorship and collaborative group workshops, we aim to establish an inclusive and mutually supportive
community of mentors and students.
